1.    Price of cat includes testing for FeLV & FIV, registration of cat in TICA once proof of spay/neuter is received, and vaccinations as outlined on attached health record.

2.    Breeder guarantees that the Cat listed above is a purebred Maine Coon Cat, with an accurate pedigree, and is eligible for registration in The International Cat Association (TICA).

3.    This Maine Coon cat/kitten is sold as a                             (pet or show alter).

4.    Cats sold as pets or show alters will not ever be bred and will be altered between the ages of six months and one year of age if purchased as a kitten or within 30 days if purchased as an adult. Upon Breeder's receipt of veterinarian's verification of altering, the Buyer will be provided registration papers. Should Buyer not provide written notification from a licensed veterinarian that altering has occurred within the time frame specified, the Buyer will have breached this agreement which is grounds for immediate repossession of the Cat by the Breeder, with no refund or reimbursement to the Buyer.

5.    Cats sold as pets will not be shown in competition without permission of the breeder.

6.    A Cat sold as a Show Alter is, in the Breeder’s opinion, a good representative of the Maine Coon breed and has no defects prohibited by the breed standard. This does not guarantee, however, the success of said Cat in the show ring, as show performance is dependent on numerous factors, such as grooming, condition, health, maturity, show temperament and the other cats in competition, all of which are beyond the Breeder’s control after sale.

Should the Cat develop a heritable defect that would bar it from the show ring, and the Buyer decides to keep the Cat or place it in a Seller pre-approved home, the Breeder will refund the difference between the price paid and the Breeder’s standard pet price of $700 for a female or $750 for a male. This refund will be given if the Buyer provides a letter from a licensed veterinarian stating the defect is inherited and letters from two all-breed judges stating the defect disqualifies the Cat from show competition. No refund will be given if the Cat produces one litter with two live kittens or the Cat achieves Championship status in TICA, CFA or CCA.

HEALTH GUARANTEE: The Cat has had a thorough wellness checkup by the Breeder’s Veterinarian prior to release to the Buyer. The Cat is in excellent health, unless otherwise noted on the Health Record, is FeLV and FIV negative, free of internal and external parasites, and is up to date on its vaccinations for Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis, and Calcivirus.

If there is an ongoing condition present and disclosed at the time of sale on the Health Record and the Buyer elects to take the cat while the condition is present, no health guarantee is provided and the Breeder accepts no financial responsibility for the specific identified health condition.

The Health Guarantee covers viral and bacterial diseases, fungus infections, and internal and external parasites, and genetic anomalies. It extends through___________(21 days from the time the cat/kitten goes to its new home). In order to qualify for this guarantee, the kitten must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours after delivery (except Sundays and holidays) and the Cat must be isolated from the Buyer’s other animals for a period of 14 days.

If during the guarantee period, the Cat seems ill, it is to be examined by a veterinarian. If the vet feels that the animal is ill and that the illness was present prior to sale, the breeder should be contacted at once, before any major treatment is begun (except in an emergency situation). If a diagnosis of disease other than stress-induced minor upper respiratory infection, is made, Buyer agrees to provide a written report, signed by the examining licensed veterinarian, including the diagnosis and all test results the diagnosis is based on. The Breeder has the right to request a second opinion from another veterinarian, at the Breeders expense. Upon confirmation the Breeder is obligated to pay up to $100 for the treatment of the diagnosed illness.

The Buyer may, at her/his option and within fourteen days of the veterinary diagnosis, elect to either a) cancel this contract and be refunded the purchase price, or b) accept a replacement animal, if and when available. The Breeder may, at her option and within the same fourteen day period, elect to cancel this contract and refund the purchase price to the Buyer or offer a replacement Cat when available or return the same Cat when it is healthy again. No refund will be given twenty-one days after the physical transfer of the Cat. Refunds shall not exceed the original purchase price of the Cat, excluding shipping costs. Any shipping costs incurred to return the Cat are the responsibility of the Buyer.

Within one year of the date of sale:

If the Cat should die from a problem which a licensed veterinarian can document as having been present prior to sale, the Breeder has the option either to replace the Cat with one of similar quality as soon as one becomes available or refund the purchase price of the Cat. The Buyer must provide the Breeder with written veterinarian’s report containing diagnosis, complete medical record of examination and treatment, and death certificate. In cases where the Breeder has exercised necropsy option, necropsy report must also be furnished. See item #13 below, euthanasia without the consent of the Breeder voids all guarantees.

The Buyer agrees to the following:

1.    Buyer agrees to have the Cat examined by their veterinarian within 72 hours of purchase and advise the Breeder of the results of the exam. The Breeder requires that the Cat be isolated for a minimum of 14 to a preferred 21 days to prevent against exposure to viruses between this Cat and the Buyer’s animals. The Health Guarantee will be void if the Buyer refuses to isolate the Cat for a minimum of 14 days.

The Buyer should be mindful that the stress induced in an animal when going to a new home may cause symptoms of illness, including diarrhea and/or constipation and minor upper respiratory infection, to appear in otherwise healthy animals.  To reduce the signs of stress, the Buyer should feed identical food to the Breeder and offer bottled water, as well as take reasonable measures to reduce stress. The isolation period allows the Cat to become acclimated to its new environment in a less stressful manner and reduces the possibility of stress induced illnesses. Slowly introduce the Cat to the house and other members of the household at the end of the isolation period and limit the time the Cat may be with strangers, children, and other animals.

2.    The Cat will receive its booster shots as outlined in the Cat's health records and deworming as deemed appropriate by your veterinarian, and at least yearly veterinary examinations.

3.    The Buyer will have the necessary supplies ready and waiting at your home before the Cat arrives. These supplies will include a scratching post, a litter pan with scoop and litter; grooming tools and nail trimmers; and a supply of kitten food.

4.    The Cat will not be denied needed veterinary attention. If the owner is unsure whether or not the animal is in need of medical services, a vet will be contacted, the situation will be explained, and the vet's advice will be acted upon.

5.    This Cat will be groomed weekly, or more frequently if needed, and will have its nails clipped regularly.

6.    This Cat will be kept in a home-like environment and not be subjected to unnecessary confinements. When confinement is necessary it will be in ventilated and sanitary conditions of a reasonable size for Cat of this size.

7.    The Cat will not be allowed outside except on a leash (under close supervision), or in a completely enclosed run both under close supervision.  Adequate indoor sanitary facilities will be provided.

8.    The Cat has been raised on a natural raw diet and it is preferable that the Cat remain on a natural raw diet. The only other alternative to the raw diet considered acceptable to the Breeder would be a commercial diet free of grains and containing top quality proteins.  It should not contain any by-products or meals. The commercial diet should consist mainly of moist canned foods with dry food used as a supplement only if desired by the Buyer. Fresh water should be available at all times.

9.    Under no circumstances will the Cat be declawed. The Cat will be provided with a proper scratching post. Cats that have been declawed tend to defend themselves by biting and develop other inappropriate behaviors. Please contact me if you need assistance in training your Cat to not scratch the furniture.

10.  The Cat will receive frequent and kind human attention.

11.  If for any reason the Buyer becomes unable or unwilling to keep the Cat and provide the Cat with proper food, shelter and medical attention, agrees to return the Cat to the Breeder, with no reimbursement or refund to Buyer, or to allow Breeder to assist in placing the Cat. The Cat will not be transferred from one owner to another without written permission of Breeder.

12.  No cat/kitten from this cattery may be sold or given to an animal shelter, sold or given to a pet store, abandoned, or sold or given to a laboratory.  If for any reason the Buyer becomes unable or unwilling to keep the Cat and provide the Cat with proper food, shelter and medical attention, the Buyer agrees to notify the Breeder immediately PRIOR to any disposition of the Cat.  The Cat will either be returned to the Breeder and, if and when the Cat is rehomed, refund any resale monies up to the original purchase price to Buyer; or allow Breeder to assist in finding another suitable home for the Cat which may or may not result in reimbursement of some or all of the original purchase price. The Cat will not be transferred from one owner to another without written permission of Breeder.

13.  We wish you to notify us of any health problems discovered which may impact on related cats in the Breeder’s program, or loss or death of the Cat. Such notification should be made immediately following such loss and before disposition of the animal’s remains so that the Breeder may exercise necropsy option. Because this Cat's relatives have been used in a breeding program, at the Breeder’ discretion and at the Breeder’s sole expense, the Buyer agrees to have a necropsy performed on any Cat who dies an untimely death to determine cause. The Buyer agrees to provide written copies of any professional opinions regarding abnormalities found to the Breeder. Euthanasia without the Breeder’s consent violates all guarantees.

14.  Misrepresentation on the part of the Buyer with regard to any provision of this contract, or  the conditions and lifestyle that this Cat will be provided with are grounds for immediate repossession by the Breeder, with no refund or reimbursement to the Buyer.

15.  The Breeder reserves the right to cancel this contract without penalty, up until the time possession is transferred to Buyer.  Any deposit paid will be refunded at the time of cancellation.

16.  If the Buyer, having put a deposit on a Cat, should later change his mind about the purchase, the deposit will be refunded upon re-sale of the Cat for at least as much as           $                 . If the kitten must be re-sold for less than $              , the deposit will be refunded less the difference between      $              and the re-sale price.

17.  For the Cat’s protection and safety, the Breeder’s Veterinarian has implanted a microchip between the cat’s shoulder blades. In the event the cat is placed in an animal shelter or taken to an emergency hospital, the Breeder retains Ownership rights to retrieve the animal and is authorized to approve any and all reasonable emergency treatment at the Buyer’s expense. It is imperative that the Breeder and Buyer inform each other of any changes in addresses and/or phone numbers.  The Buyer is registered as an alternate contact with the pet tracking service.

18.  If the Cat is purchased as a Show Alter, the Buyer agrees to present the Cat in well groomed show condition. The Buyer will make reasonable effects to show the Cat to a Grand Champion status in CFA and to Grand Champion status in TICA. The Buyer agrees to keep the Breeder informed of the Cat’s achievements in the show ring.

19.  The Buyer will send pictures once a year or more often, if he/she wishes, to the Breeder. These pictures will be used in my evaluation of my breeding program. The Breeder will also be available to answer any questions that you may have and to try to assist you with your cat.

20.  Buyer agrees that Breeder shall have the right to enforce provisions of this contract in a court of law or through alternative dispute mediation of the Breeder’s choice and at a time and place of the Breeder’s choosing. If legal action by Breeder is necessary to enforce any provision, Buyer will pay for court costs and attorney fees incurred by Breeder.

21.  The Buyer’s signature indicates that they have read, understood and agree to all contractual obligations.
